Sony announced today that it is going to slashed the price of PlayStation 3 by $100. Unlike its predecessor, Sony Corp could not get a momentum going with its sales of PS3.
The announcement coincides with the E3 Summit at Santa Monica, California. With this version of Playstation, Sony decided to provide a high definition DVD player which brought the cost of the unit considerably higher.
I think it just makes perfect sense right now. Microsoft mentioned that it has set aside $1 Billion to extend the warranty on the XBox 360s 3-RedLight-Syndrome defect. This should give them a little push.
Let’s see what Nintendo will come up this time.

Did you experience this? Armed with a popcorn or pizza, you turned on the XBox console only to see that dreaded light. Three flashing red lights! Aaaargh! But in a write up today in Los Angeles Times, Microsoft stated that it had set aside more than $1 Billion to handle this nuisance.
What this means?
1. Microsoft knew that they made a ‘boo boo’ on the hardware design.
2. The number of consoles that are affected are significant enough to make them extend the warranty.
To their credit, it takes a lot of pride to ’recognize’ that there is something wrong with the consoles and allow consumers to get their consoles fixed. Setting aside $1 Billion is no joke, and I give them credit for making things better for their customer. And they are known to get back the sympathy of their customers.
So I think I won’t see a lot of broken Xbox on sale at ebay for now. Shucks! If you get the 3 Red Light Syndrome, call Xbox Warranty Program at (800) 4-My-XBox.
It used to be just Blue Screen of Death, now 3 Red Lights!
