I was trying to experiment on adding a Google Maps on one of my web pages. I came across this wonderful article on how to create them.

How To Open Office 2007 Files From Previous Versions

Someone send you a document that was written in Office 2007 but unfortunatedly it has a docx or xlsx extension.  Doyng!  What to do?  Buy Office 2007, no?

Good thing Microsoft gave us Office 2007 Compatibility Pack that you can download.

Once you install this, you could now open Office 2007 documents from previous version of Office.

The nice addon is the ability to detect flash player versions and allows you to update the player.

Print to USB from MS DOS Applications

Most legacy MS DOS apps prints to the traditional LPT port, ie LPT1.  Unfortunately, the newer printers dump the parallel printer port in lieu of the easier and cost effective USB.

If you have to maintain an MS DOS program but the program can only print to the LPT port, you can use this DOS to USB printer driver program – DOS2USB

Essentially, it diverts all the parallel print commands to the USB port seamlessly.  Give it a try.
